The National Museum of Capodimonte, inaugurated in 1957 in Naples, displays valuable masterpieces of Italian art and focuses in particular on the major exponents of painting in Naples from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century. Re-opened in 1995 after major adjustment, it repeats the original layout of the Farnese collection of the royal apartment of Charles I of Bourbon, and it is home to major exhibitions.
